Black Bear

From our trip to the Portland Zoo. He was very active and playful. I had never seen a pair of bears play like these today did. (I missed a shot of them both.)

2 Ducks

The 2 young ducks were sunning themselves on this log by the Willamette River. It is a very interesting scene in person and I only hope a little of that is displayed here. Thanks to Scott for reminding me of doing a drop crop border on an image! Visit Scott for his Phun Prhiday photo.

Exit Beach

Another shot of William walking off the beach last month. I wanted to use this but never got around to it. Quickly processed for the look, could be better, could be worse. I like the drama but it is way not real. :-) Please mouse over to see the straight out of the camera before image. (Mouse-over tutorial to the right.)

Shot with Pentax K-7, 18mm, f7.1, 1/100sec. Processed in PS3 using an HDR script, masked a little in the sand to tone it down, way saturated, tweaked levels, added vignette.

A Day at the River

Taken on a recent bike ride in Salem, OR to the Willamette River.

I went for a 16X9 format on this just to see how it looks, and I like it. But after posting, I decided to crop a little more. (Mouse over to see original post. Mouse over tutorial on right.) Is the crop better?

A couple daisies (mouse over the image for the second shot) shot in the neighbors burn pile. These guys are great subjects, as are all flowers. Shot in early morning, a little overcast, with a single flash to camera left.

Moon over the Lake

Scenic, right? My family, Cyndy, Angela & William in a tube this past weekend on Foster lake by Sweet Home. I'll tell you, it is hard to one hand the camera (and get the moon in the shot!), worry about the family, drive the boat, watch for logs and other boats/people in the lake all at once! It was a fun day out though and it was worth it.

At the heart of it all.....

Can you guess what type of flower this is? Mouse over for the answer and let me know if you knew. :-) Surprising and amazing that there can be such contrast in one flower.

Cropped, blurred, sharpened, saturated and levels set in PS3.

This is my first attempt at smoke photography. The image is a little soft (out of focus) but I really like the waviness and the "feel" of it. Dreamy.....

Reeser Stadium

Reeser is where the Oregon State University football team plays all six of their home games every year. (I can't believe the MILLIONS spent on this venue for the little use is sees.) This was an unusual angle as I was looking through a fence from the back side where the public does not normally go to look at the stadium. Exposure was f4 for 5 seconds at 50mm and straight out of the camera.

Bugle Player

11pm last I hear a haunting horn in an empty parking lot. I went to investigate and there I met Hezeliah the bugler playing sometimes 2 bugles. It was very cool to hear and he was very gracious to allow me to photograph him.

Rose Reaching

Another rose reaching for the sky, but a little different than earlier this week. Actually, just thought I would see if I could edit the image to get anything. It is ok I think..... Mouse over for before image.

Captured with Pentax K-7 with 90mm macro lens. Edited in PS3: Straightened, cropped and a lot of clone tool to make a bud go away.

Roc on the Beach

Roc, my black lab, was sitting in deep shade when I took this last week while at the beach. I exposed for the shade but the sky was pure white. I exposed for the sky but the shade went black. (Not good for a black lab.) So, I combined the photos into this. I hope it works. I think it is interesting. I really like the cliff off to the left.

Taken in Newport, Oregon this past week. I waited for the sunset in general and this was a bonus shot for me. Worked out much better than expected.

Mouse over for before image.

Happy 4th of July, 2010!

At the park that we stay at most, Whalers Rest in Newport OR, they had a little 4th of July parade on the 3rd. William rode on the "hay wagon" and got to throw out candy for the first time. He had a blast. Fun was had by all!

Walk on the Beach

I know, similar to yesterday, but different. I like it and it fits the theme. What are you going to do! :-)

My son William (5yrs old) playing in the surf. I would not let him get too wet, not wanting to soak his shoes. e did later take them off, already soaked. He decided that the water was too cold then. :-)
