Longhorn Goat?

I just liked him (or her), the setting and the lighting.

Angela's Portrait

I really like this portrait. There is a little flash fill with the setting sun to the left. Angela, of course, pretty much hates it.

And of course A&W in full laugh. This one is fun. :-)

Wait for it....wait for IT!!!!

Looking and waiting, the trio wonder when "it" will take place transforming into the thing it was meant to be.

Or, the ball was too slimy and William was just making sure before throwing it.

This Makes How Many?

Don't ask! William likes the puppy though and has given him the name "Moose". Doubt it will stick, but it suits the puppy at this time.

Pee-Wee is not so taken with Moose however. He sure likes her though!

Osprey in Flight

Male on his way to the nest where the female is waiting.

My New Friend

I have been watching him for a few days. Today I got lucky enough to get this. Not that great, I know, image quality wise. But you do the best you can with what you have. Well, ok, I could have gotten a little better quality image. But he didn't stay around long and I knew he would not. (This is in the wild, after all, not a zoo!)

UPDATE: This is a juvinile Bald Eagle.

It looks like I have "gone to the birds" but it is migration time and they now present the best choices photographically. It will change. Still want to get a *good* Blue Heron image too.

For William

William likes Robbins and he picked this image out today. I took it with him in mind. :-)

I wasn't going to include this one but it has 3 species in one shot. A small raptor center top, geese middle and starlings (I think) lower left. Click for a larger view.

Old and Desaturated

That's how I feel and this is my inspiration.

Snow, Snow, Snow!

I'm glad I decided I don't *only* have to post one picture a day. We had snow again this morning (all gone now) and we enjoyed it!

This one is for Kama (HI KAMA!) showing where the bird feeder is. Ugly but functional. I *plan* on gluing moss or bark to the outside cup. :-)

This is Spring?

Snow, hail, rain, sun. All in the day. Shown here there is about an inch and a half of hail. This is a mile from the house.

There isbout a half inch of hail at home. There was snow earlier too. On April 19th?

Osprey Return

Back for the winter, I mean summer, the osprey have returned to raise a new clutch of chicks. This is the female preparing the nest with a watchful eye. The male was about 30 yards away watching too.

On the Wing

Just a quick shot of geese. I unfortunately missed the shot I wanted, about 100 geese, but this pair came back for a fly-by and it works too.

Still not exactly the photo I wanted, but it has merit.

On the Farm

Just another farm shot, with barn, and good lighting (but not great).

Hard to walk by and ignore

Flowers, that is, when they yell at you "Look at me! Look at me!". So I do and I record what I see. This is an example of flowers on a little shrub here at school that I walk past every day.

End of the Line

Not "pretty" but it has a statement. Actually, this is the result of William and his quest to explore flowers. William 1, Flowers O.

Pano/Stitched Morning Photos

The first is an oak along the road comprised of 4 images taken with my 16mm fisheye. I also sepia toned it. Opinions?

Second is a small field with a barn on each end. Made up of 7 images stitched then tweaked in Photoshop. Not spectacular I think, but after the effort in creating it, here it is. :-)

Morning Barn

This is a barn with just the right pre-dawn light a little off my beaten track. I like the light, but was in a hurry to grab the shot. It's not too bad, after a few fixes. :-)

From Portland

Shots from the day there. Quite random and interesting I think.

More than expected

Didn't want to choose, so here are three. I'm tired.........

Seen Better Days

I love this barn. I drive by nearly every day and knew it would be here, just a matter of when. There are more barns in disrepair that will show up. I think they are #1 cool but #2 a sad statement of the sweat that has been left behind by our forefathers.

The Chimney Tree

I had no idea something like this would be an image for the day until I saw it. They have crushed a house this week and this is the result. Well, this and the the dumpster being fed by a loader the remains of the house.

Oh, this was edited using online software at picnik.com. Very fast and tons of options. It will even edit photos already loaded to flickr, picasa, etc. Use it!

On the Tracks

My favorite of the day. There are others too. Perhaps I should have more than one picture a day sometimes?

Larwood Covered Bridge

And William. We were just out for a drive. I photographed lambs, a calf, a flower but this wins for the day. :-)

Gone to the Birds

We fed the birds this morning and I watch for an hour or so and took some pictures. I have photos of at least 10 different breeds of birds, some of which I had no clue. I won't post any of the following: Starling, Blue (Scrub) Jay, Robin, Black Bird. I was shooting through the window at a slow shutter speed so don't look too closely.

Male House Finch.

Female House Finch.
These are a pair that came & ate together.

Oregon Dark-eyed Junco.

Black-Capped Chickadee.

Song Sparrow.

White-Crowned Sparrow.

Spotted Towhee.

I have a book, can you tell? I didn't think I would be able to tell them all apart but when I saw the photos, no problem. This was fun and the birds are still coming! There is an Oregon Dark-eyed Junco out there eating now. Gotta go!

Yes Deer?

William spotted this on the way in this morning. Amazing how he does this, not the first time! It was very dark and I feared the worst but it came out okayish....... (Just don't look *too* close!) f2.8 at 200mm is not so bad.

Two for One Day

I liked them both and I let a co-worker decide today's blog photo, the barn. But I had already done work on the Crabtree church and it is not too bad, so here it is too. Both taken around 7:45am on my way in to school, off of Hungry Hill Road.

Sheep

Lounging by the dry creek, warming to the morning sun. Not *exactly* the photo I want from this area so there might be another from this area later.

Choo-Choo Woo-Woo

That is how William refers to trains and track, Choo-Choo Woo-Woo. I thought this an interesting perspective with deep shadows. I need more practice at taking this picture though.
