Lytro-A-Day #65: We finally have a couple blooms in the yard-orchard. Natural light or modified light?

On the Tracks

Lytro-A-Day #64: Final project bridges built & tested. Here is a sample of the best looking and the most unique. One team painted, one team over-stressed. :-)

Q+500mm Lens

I showed the setup yesterday of the camera and here are a couple images shot with it: 150-500 Sigma, Pentax K to Q adapter and Pentax Q camera. It is a pretty cool setup but you have to have a good tripod and be fast to focus (manual) with birds. It does get tricky, but its fun!

Birds & the Moon

Lytro-A-Day #63: I mounted my 150-500 onto my Pentax Q, giving me an effective reach of 2750mm. It works!

Guess Again

Lytro-A-Day #61: That is what you take a photo of when you run out of day and you need a photo. Figure it out? Sponge Bob behind a multi-faceted glass.

Life of a Flower

Lytro-A-Day #59: I thought this progression from bud to flower to berry was interesting. Not sure what this shrub is but it sure does flower long and often.

Hiding under the Flower

Lytro-A-Day #58: Poor daffodils, being devoured by the snails. Because it had just turned daytime, I'm sure this one is more sleeping & hiding than eating. But it is sad to see entire flower heads eaten.

Lytro-A-Day #57: I mentioned I would show these spring flowers. How could I refuse?

Cut the Grass

Lytro-A-Day #55: William cut some of the grass today using the riding mower. I did most but he did his part with respect for the machinery. :-)

Dimensions and their Tolerances

Lytro-A-Day #54: Playing around, testing my filter holder. This image taken with a +4 close-up filter attached and zoomed in.

5 Minute Rain Break

Lytro-A-Day #52: I have been waiting a while for these to bloom and I continue to wait. I think they are holding out for a dry spell. (This weekend!)

Lytro to 49mm Adapter

I have access to a very high resolution 3D printer, the Objet24, and SolidWorks. The Objet prints at a layer thickness of 28 microns. (That's .028mm or 0.0011023622 inches.) Needless to say, this is NOT a home built maker bot!

My goal here is to create a filter holder for my 49mm filters. After printing today and testing, it holds my +2 and +4 close-up filters very well. No slippage, no hint that anything would fall off. (The macro filters provide little benefit except being able to close focus and the Lytro's longest focal length, down to 5 1/2" at 51.4mm.)

The real goal is for a polarizing filter and after printing the 49mm holder I realized I only have a 52mm, and above, filter. So, off to design and print another. If you have any questions, please email.

Guess what it is?

Lytro-A-Day #51: While testing an adapter I saw this piece os stuff laying around. Know what it is?

Little Purple Flowers

Lytro-A-Day #50: I walked past this bush, hidden under another larger bush, and I smelled them. Wonderful sweet fragrance. I turned around and searched them out. Very much worth it.
Oh, if you are new to Lytro Images, hover over the image, wait for it to load then click to refocus or click-hold and drag to see a perspective shift on the images. I have many more Lytro images here. Have a look around!

SpringTime

Lytro-A-Day #48 & 49: An adventure into my yard has a lot to fine. Dandelion budding trees, leaves from last fall trying to hang on. So much more too on such a great pre-spring day.

The Q

Lytro-A-Day #47: I finally got around to mounting my magnifying hood onto my Q. It helps when focusing an older manual focus lens like this 50mm f2. It's cool.
