Eye of Mocha
Just playing around. A little soft due to low light/motion, but fun.

Trapped
This guy, again from the Portland, OR Zoo, was not happy or bored or sad or......who knows. It just looked like he needed his story told and this is all I can do for him.

Pollen
One of each, color & monochrome. I like them both and my original intent was to only post monochrome. But the orange just pops!
Also, first use of my new softbox that I received for Father's Day. Does great light. But no one will pose for me. :-(

Trucks in the Dark
I tried to be a little creative! Fisheye lens, 2 flash units, 1 with a red gel & 1 with a blue gel to add color to the trucks. Did it work? Not so sure there is really a story here. But, I must admit, it was fun to set up and do the shoot! Mouse over the second truck for another perspective. :-)

Opening night of local baseball team Volcanoes. They lost and it was cold. But a night at a game is worth it! :-)

Sky Flowers
Recent fireworks display. First is straight out of the camera, with a little cropping, using a long exposure and bluring the focus during exposure. Looks like a flower! Second is similar but I added in some color too. Thought I would try out this for the first time as the regular fireworks shots have been done!
(Ok, not *really* flowers and not quite yellow, but they are close on both counts!)

A few of the creatures from the Portland (OR) Zoo. I have more to show, but for another day. All straight out of the camera & unedited. Sorry, I don't remember all the names so I'll not use any. :-)

Cyndy the Graduate
I took a few portraits of Cyndy in her graduation garb so she can give out a few pix to her parents and the like. The colors on the background are school colors. I created the text, modeled after the background used at the graduation ceremony. Mouse over for the before SOOC shot.
Shot with Pentax K-7 & 50/1.4. Flashes triggered with RF-602's, main flash camera left in softbox, bare fill flash camera right and slightly behind Cyndy. Slight levels adjustment in Photoshop CS3 and added the gradient color (overlay mode with mask) background and text. Crumpled white sheet as backdrop.

Big Green
You can mouse over to see the out of camera version and while OOC is not bad, I prefer the sepia version. I think monochrome adds to the overpowering impact and the grain adds a little nostalgia.

Graduation Day
PSU Graduation at the Rose Garden in Portland Oregon. I calculated there to be around 2,300 graduates filling the floor below us. It took them a half an hour just to sit down! We never saw Cyndy at all when they all walked in and we never found her until she was walking up to receive her diploma. Why? Because she was sitting as far away from us as possible (Note the red arrow on the left.)

For the photo geeks, this is a 4 image pano stitched in PS.
"Where's Mommy?" "Over there" We did that a lot and I just pointed to the general down there on the left area. :-)
Here is the lost Cyndy, where we found her, making her way to the podium.
No she found us. :-) It was a happy time for all.
Handing her card off to have her name called. We yelled but she cound not hear us. It was quite noisy out there.
Receiving her diploma....
Showing off her diploma. Good job honey. We are all very proud of you!

A Flower in the Sky
Today's post is dedicated to my wife, Cyndy. Today she graduates from Portland State University with a degree in Social Science, with honors, Summa Cum Laude! I am very proud of her, for her dedication and hard work towards this goal. Good job Cyndy!
From the archives..... I wanted a yellow flower that had not been used and I came up with this one. I liked it before but had another I liked better at the time, about a year ago. So here it is, freshly processed to get a desaturated but still have a colored highlights look.

Launching William
He discovered jumping from a swing this month. :-)
Tried to make this look as old as possible by adding heavy vignette and grain (noise) as well as boost the contrast. Monochrome just does not feel correct without some grain, digital is too clean. I guess that comes from newspaper work in college and the tons of film I have burnt through over the years.

Ants!
Had to get rid of these guys because there were in an electronics box. (This was their second and final eviction.) Felt bad though when watching them take care of each other. Shot with my K-7 and Tamron 90mm Macro with flash to the left, reflector to the right. Then I cropped way close. Came out well I think!

Boats
An image taken a couple months ago at the marina in Newport, OR that I didn't know what to do with. Now I do. I really like the enhancements that Topaz Adjust helped with and there is a lovely reflection. Mouse over for the original out of camera version.
Update: This image is one that I truly love and want to see printed so I am going to go to www.zazagallery.com to get a canvas print! Go visit them as they have a free print offer!!
