Blossom

It is time for a few cherry/apple blossoms. For starters, I believe this is some sort of apple. Perhaps cherry tomorrow.........

Does it *Have* to be Interesting?

I needed to show a support tech a problem we are having with our 3D printer at school. Parts are coming loose during the print process and become damaged. Shown below is a macro of one of the problem areas.

Hawks Win!

Here is one of the Hawks going for the puck controlled by a Spokane player. Great game, overtime and sudden death shoot off. Best game of the year and the last of the year. Hopefully next year will be better.

Warm and Fuzzy....

....wins over pretty flowers. This little guy was looking for a handout from William. :-) He got one.

Not a good day for a Camel

It is a miserable, wet, gray day. Not the kind of day I would want if I were a camel! But I saw one and I *needed* its picture.........

Today's Flower

I like this flower but no idea what the name is.

Eastern Mountains, Morning Perspective

On the way in this morning, another view of the mountains in the pano from a couple days ago. I love the light on the clouds. I had to wait a minute to get this. When I saw this there was a thin line of light streaking across the top but by the time I got stopped it was gone. This works too. :-)

Baaaaaah

What can I say?

Pano

Could be better, but its all I have for today. It is much prettier in person.

Out on a Drive

Somewhere between Salem and Silverton there is a railroad.........

Mother Goose

Taken in Salem by a fake pond on Hawthorne St. Looks real, eh?

Flower, revised

Photos today were lame so I applied some artistic filters and got this. It is an improvement, but still could be better. (It a dandelion with a green ladybug on the right.)

Barn in Morning Light

I saw this with the dark fog behind in the sunrise so I stopped. I like how the barn pops out from the background. I did edit, tweaking curves, saturation, etc. in the Gimp.

Another Flower........

I snagged a photo of this before Cyndy took it away to her office. Very hard to photograph because it is such a vibrant red.

Hockey Today.......

And, unfortunately, another loss for Portland. Seems their lot this year.

Last Minute Flower

It is a pretty flower from Safeway, though it has folded leaves. I have already been accused of getting these for taking its picture but not true! Only 9 minutes left and nothing better (truly) to photograph! :-)

So much color!

The Herons Have Arrived

It is nesting time for the Great Blue Heron and there is a nesting area on my way in to school. This is hand held but I am going to continue to try and get something from the tripod and better quality.

Spring is here for sure.......

A nice study of a daffodil.

Crocus 4

I did a little Photoshop to this one, moving the two left flowers closer to those on the right then cropped. I like it. Another dark moody crocus shot.

The Train (cars)

Out and about in Lebanon and we saw these. I thought "let's see......."

Lacrosse

How do you choose one image from 236? You just do.......

(Note that it is hard to spell "Lacrosse" at 2am after seeing only one game.)

More Crocus

Another Crocus. Great little flowers and the first of the season. I hear there are many still in snow! We got flowers. :-)

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Dreamy.....

I really like how this turned out even though it was not my vision. I guess you never know what will be in focus and not. More crocus to follow......

Put Out to Pasture

An old silo that has gone unused for many years. I have always thought this would be interesting. Perhaps better lighting........

Five Droplets

Can you guess what this is or how big the water droplets are? This is an extreme close-up of a rose petal with 5 droplets of water the size of a pin head and smaller. I was checking out some new stuff.  :-)

For the technically inclined, 2X converter, 24mm extension tube, 50mm lens, +4, +2 & +1 macro filters, all in that order. It is about 2:1 magnification.

William Discovers "Down Hill" on his Bike

Technically, this is 11 images. But I combined them into one gif, so it is fine. If you look close he takes his feet off the pedals and flies down this driveway. Also note his tongue. Fun for sure.

New Cameras to Liquidate

Thirty cameras & a bunch of lenses. More than I would have liked are not working, but that is part of the risk. This Nikon is nice though......

Little birdie

This was taken this morning (400mm). I think this bird will be moving in. He was flying back and forth for quite a while between the house and a couple trees. Once, and I missed the shot, his mate was with him.

Crocus (v3)

Crocus again?! Yup! I like them and they are different every day. Still waiting for the purple flowers to make an appearance. (Not done yet!)

Monday, February 11, 2008

Crocus (v2)

More yellow Crocus, this time monochrome, coming up out of the earth. I like how they force their way through, regardless!

A New Captian is Made!

William got to pilot his first boat solo today. It was a bit choppy, waves crashing over the bow. But he made it to port.

River Pano-2

Forgot to post yesterday, but it is from yesterday. So here it is....

A panorama from the east side of the Willamette looking at down town Portland. The streak on the right is a MAX train. Cool!

Fight! Fight!

I know, I am late with this entry but it was taken in a timely manner and it is being posted ASAP.

Pretty much all the action at the hockey game tonight summed up in this photo. I don't like the pink ice but it was for a cancer fund raising.

Crocus are Up!

The first one of the season in my travels. A very pretty yellow. Expect more as the blossom opens and of various colors when they come up.

Long Day

At the end of his day, watching one of his favorite movies. William.

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

A lens.....

Not of any real interest, but I took this today in the cause for selling it. It is a good still life!

Deer in the woods

Rolled up on these (three total, one not shown) this morning after they had woke but not yet got up. First time I had seen a deer in bed! This is the only shot I could get as it was only dawn, slow lens and hand held. Oh well. the fun was in seeing them!

The Secret World Around Us

Too many to choose from so I choose three.

Late entry

I took this in time and was applying finishing touches before midnight, so *it is* in time....... only 4 minutes late. PeeWee, AKA Raven, with the background photoshopped.

Nothing more......just a weed.
