Ring Necked Phesant

This guy sat for a great pose but I have to admit, it is not in the wild. Not a zoo either but the EE Wilson Wildlife Refuge. They use these birds as breeders to help repopulate the area in some managed way. I hope it works because it is not fair to the animals. If you are in the area there is much to see there, not all penned up either.

Boy, it is a beautiful bird. I had no idea it could have so many feather variations. Beautiful!

Great shot. The pheasants elude me. Some live in the open space behind our house. They pop up to call and then drop down again into the grass so I can't get a shot.
