Both are soft, I know. Taken with the new 400 and my 2X for 800mm but with bad form on my part. I was not using a tripod but had the camera braced. Not so good.

Pictures of what I see, when they happen.
My goal is to show something new every week from where I live, work and play.
Please leave a comment and let me know you are watching. Also, if you have something to say that makes the image better, please say so. Granted, we all try to do our best. But unless we get genuine feedback on how we can be better, how can we become better? I always try to learn. So please, let me know what does not work as well as what does work.
Thank you

I love having the woodpeckers visit my feeders. In the summer I put out suet dough which isn't so drippy and they bring their babies too. Stop by and visit my weekly 'Nature Notes' meme....Michelle
He is gorgeous. I often *hear* the woodpeckers working away, but don't often get to see them and take a photo. Lovely!
Beautiful shots - love the vibrant red!
Oh how beautiful that is.
Please take a peek at the Mocking Bird at my page.
One to be proud of. I keep trying to get a woodpecker visitor but he just flies around the perimeter.
Nice shots of the downy! After the cardinals, woodpeckers are my favorite.
I love the Downy woodpeckers. Great shots.
Your images are stunning. http://songofhaiti.blogspot.com/
Soft or not, both are good. I'm sure you will at some stage set up the tripod and wait for him to get the perfect shot.
